Method of operation
The machine pulls wire from a coil, passing it through a horizontally and vertically adjustable straightener to ensure that the wire is perfectly straight when entering the work station. The desired feed length can be easily set on a conveniently accessible crank disc. A positively controlled gripper holds the wire on the return stroke of the feed slide to ensure that the studs are of uniform length. After passing through the gripper the wire is fed to the cutting station working with enclosed cutting-off bushes, and the cut lengths are conveyed to the rolling station. A pusher then passes the stud between the thread rolling jaws, producing the required thread during the forward stroke of the rolling slide. The finished stud drops on to a perforated tray, allowing the return of the lubricant used during the rolling operation.
