VA & VA-ES Series: Planetary Thread Rolling System for Low / Hi-Tensile Fasteners
|
|
|
The VA models combine Perfect thread quality, excellent die life, and a very high production rate. The closed structure models feature a real breakthrough in the planetary system. This new technology-enabled Videx to offer thread rollers with longer die pocket, up to 200mm, and 300mm.
The Closed-Structure system is designed to overcome deflection which is unavoidable in other machines. It creates a closed frame between the segment and the rotary dies, avoiding the need to shim the dies.
Using the Supported Spindle, the machines roll 100% parallel threads on any length of parts and any material hardness.
An immediate result of the supported spindle construction is a considerable increase in thread rolling die life, especially when rolling pre-hardened parts, between 25Rc and 45Rc. This improvement in die life is now opening new opportunities for the planetary system with a lower cost per piece than any other system on the market.

Main features of the VA-ES line:
- Closed Frame, Supported Spindle structure, allowing rolling parallel threads on long and hi-tensile fasteners without compromising on the thread quality. The Closed frame prevents the “breathing” of the dies and results in double the die life of a standard machine!
- Hydraulic Clamping of the thread rolling dies and Micrometric Screws for quick-change and precise adjustment of the thread rolling dies on both stations. This feature also allows quick change to a previously made part.
- Controlled Feed, equalizing the line speed of the blank to the speed of the rotary die, thus eliminating slippage and resulting in higher quality threads. This feature is extremely important when rolling long parts with short threads that tend to slip.
- Feed Rails made out of stainless steel with replaceable hardened ends. The rail clearance is adjusted by hand, with no wrenches. The upper rail swings around a pivot and is equipped with a spring-loaded end over the wide hold back finger, for precise thread length under the head.
- Automatic air shut-off systems turn off the air supply to the feeder during the time it is not working and to the feed rails when the machine is not operating.
- Fine adjustment Thread Matching device allows independent, 3-minute perfect match of the dies with the touch of a finger.
- AC speed controller is standard, enabling to run at the highest possible rate for each part.
- Hi-Speed Vibratory Feeder with fine adjustment settings and noise absorption layer inside. The feeder base is manually adjustable with no wrenches. To change the thread length, the whole feeder is lifted from one point, with the feed rails.
- Computer with a digital screen for messages, speeds, etc.
- The VA series is designed to work 24 hours a day. It has no clutches, slides, or hydraulics and it requires almost no maintenance.

The Quick-Change VC-M & VC-MS work from a coil and are the ideal solution for small production batches and frequent change-over of wire diameter and length. The VC-MC and VC-MSC models are also equipped with an integral Chamfer station.
VC-M models are equipped with a mechanical drive for cut-off rates up to 600 PPM and up to 1 meter long. The parts are cut continuously at steady intervals according to the wire feed rate. VC-MS models are driven by a patented mechanical servo drive with no clutches nor hydraulics, enabling cutting both very short parts (slugs) and long parts, up to an unlimited length.
- Length change is completed in seconds. Wire diameter change takes 15-20 minutes.
- The wire hits a positive stop that rides along with the run-off guide, assuring a length accuracy of ±0.1 mm/meter. There is no need to dismantle any parts when changing the length of wire diameter.
- The machines are quiet, reliable, and safe and are virtually maintenance-free.
- The Reciprocating Straightener feeds the wire and straightens it simultaneously.
- It combines hardened parabolic feed rollers and cast iron straightening shoes and is equipped with Quick-Change Plugs.
The straightener oscillates during cut-off, safeguarding against surface damage on the wire.
- The stainless steel Run-Off Guide requires no adjustment when changing wire diameters!
- Square Cut-Off device supports the wire during the cutting operation, resulting in a square clean-cut face.
- Chamfer cutting station is optional on all models. The parts can be chamfered or pointed with different chamfer on both ends.
Wire feed is done by two feed boxes.
Straightening is done by a rotary arbor that has independent speed control, making the line suitable for hi-tensile wire, hot-rolled, and ribbed wire.
VC-HR models are equipped with Hydraulic Impact Flying Shear for a square cut face on both ends and faster wire speed with no clutches or other wearing parts.
VC-MSR models are equipped with Mechanical Servo Flying Shear instead of the hydraulic system, which is quieter and consumes less energy.
Chamfer and Point stations are optional on both models:
- An optional Third Feed Box allows feeding the end of the coil all the way through the machine thus utilizing the entire coil, saving material, floor space, and change-over-time.
- Quick Clamp Positive Stop, for quick Length Change featuring accurate and consistent part length.
- Combination Rotary Straightener with rotating dies and shoes for Better Surface Quality, requiring less power and fewer straightening shoes than other machines.
- Fast Wire-feed rates without twisting the wire.
- Forced Flying Shear Cut-Off for faster wire speed and no wire swelling.
- Two Synchronized Speed Controllers enable straightening the wire at high speeds for any combination of hardness and diameter, allowing set-up in a slow, jog speed.
- Stainless Steel Run-Off Guide, requires no adjustments when changing wire diameters.
- Optional Collecting Arms, for a continuous run, while the operator bundles the previous batch.

Videx Thread Rolling Dies Planetary & Flat Die

Videx Nitrated thread rolling dies are available for Videx machines and for all other planetary thread rollers.
The dies are offered from a special steel, providing longer die life and less frequent change-over of dies.
HSS Nitrated dies are offered as well, for special applications.
Most standard inch and metric thread rolling dies for Videx machines are offered ex stock.
Videx is offering a complete manufacturing solution from one source, including the feed system, machine and dies.
